KARACHI:
A devastating road accident on Hawke’s Bay Road near Mauripur claimed four lives on Sunday and left six others injured, three of whom are reported to be in critical condition.
The victims, members of a family from Punjab, were returning home after spending the day at the beach when their vehicle overturned. According to initial reports, the accident occurred when the driver lost control of the speeding car, which first rammed into a wall before flipping over due to the force of the impact.
Those who lost their lives in the crash include the driver, 45-year-old Yousuf Din Dogar, a woman identified as Khalida, 40, and two young girls – 7-year-old Zainab and 10-year-old Ayesha.
The injured have been identified as 20-year-old Zain, 4-year-old Hussain, 8-year-old Fatima, 42-year-old Saba, and two young girls named Sehr and Anusha. All the injured were rushed to Civil Hospital Karachi, where doctors said three of them remain in critical condition.
DIG Traffic Pir Muhammad Shah visited the crash site and described the incident as one of the most severe road accidents so far this year. He noted that the road itself poses multiple hazards for drivers and assured that immediate safety measures would be taken to prevent further tragedies.
“The family is in deep shock at the moment and not in a position to give any formal statements,” he added.
