In a tragic incident in Karachi’s Lyari area, 27 precious lives were lost when an old, dilapidated building collapsed in Baghdadi. Amid this devastating tragedy, the volunteers of Rescue 1122 displayed exceptional courage and honesty, earning praise from all quarters.
One such volunteer was Abdul Qadeer, who sacrificed his life while saving others during the rescue operation. Abdul Qadeer had been working tirelessly to pull people out of the rubble when he came across the body of a man buried under the debris. As he carefully retrieved the deceased, he discovered a cheque worth Rs 25 million, along with some cash and important documents, tucked safely in the victim’s clothes.
Without any hesitation, Abdul Qadeer handed over the cheque and all belongings to the victim’s heirs, setting an example of integrity and devotion to duty. His honesty, even amid life-threatening rescue work, has been widely appreciated, with many calling him a true hero who upheld humanity till his last breath.
