LAHORE: Pakistan kicked off their campaign at the U-19 World Volleyball Championship in style, sweeping Belgium 3-0 in Tashkent on Thursday.
Competing in the 24-nation tournament for the first time, Pakistan secured a straight-sets win with scores of 25-19, 25-17, and 25-22.
They dominated the match with 32 points from attacks, 11 from blocks, and two from aces. Additionally, Belgium’s errors handed Pakistan 30 crucial points.
Mohammad Saud led the charge with 13 points, while Mohammad Yahya added 11 and Jabran chipped in with eight.
The championship features some of the world’s top teams, including Brazil, Italy, Japan, Iran, the US, France, and Poland.
Placed in Pool ‘A’ with Belgium, Uzbekistan, Turkey, and Puerto Rico, Pakistan will take on tournament hosts Uzbekistan on Friday.
