KARACHI: In his first official act since taking charge, the new US Consul General in Karachi, Charles Goodman, paid his respects at the mausoleum of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. During his visit, Goodman laid a floral wreath on the grave of the nation’s founder and paid tribute to his vision, emphasizing the United States’ commitment to building a stronger relationship with Pakistan.
A New Chapter of Friendship
Speaking to the media after his visit, Consul General Goodman stated that both the US and Pakistan are dedicated to strengthening their relationship. He expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome he has received, adding that together, the two countries can forge a lasting friendship. He reiterated the message of enduring ties, stating, “Pakistan-US friendship is long live, and Pakistan and the US are committed to strengthening relations.”
Goodman, a senior career diplomat, assumed his duties on August 29, 2025. According to a US Consulate spokesperson, he previously served as the administrative advisor to the US Mission in New Zealand and has also held key positions in Pristina, Kosovo. His visit to the Quaid’s mausoleum and his positive remarks signal a new and promising chapter in the diplomatic relationship between the United States and Pakistan.
