Islamabad: The Supreme Court has rejected the bail plea of Assistant Food Controller Khalid Khan, who was arrested in connection with the theft of 30,000 sacks of wheat in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
During the hearing, the Additional Advocate General informed the court that the accused were responsible for inflicting a loss of over Rs197.7 crore on the national exchequer. He added that the bail applications of other co-accused in the case had also been dismissed earlier.
It was further revealed that the challan in the case has already been submitted and proceedings are underway in the Anti-Corruption Court, Nowshera.
The two-member bench, headed by Justice Hassan Azhar Rizvi, heard the arguments and ruled against granting bail, upholding the decision to keep the accused in custody while the case continues.
