ISLAMABAD: Google has officially introduced its much-anticipated AI Mode in Pakistan, offering a smarter and more interactive way for people to search and explore information online. The new feature, powered by the company’s Gemini 2.5 technology, is designed to make searching faster, more natural, and far more practical for complex queries.
From Simple Queries to Smarter Conversations
Unlike traditional search, where users often have to break down questions into smaller parts, AI Mode allows people to ask detailed, conversational queries in one go. Google says users worldwide are already typing questions that are two to three times longer than before whether it’s planning a trip, learning a new skill, or comparing multiple products at once.
For instance, a traveler could simply type: “Plan a 5-day trip to Hunza with sightseeing, adventure, and local food experiences.” The system not only provides a complete itinerary but also lets users follow up with additional questions like recommended food spots or nearby activities making the search experience more personalized and interactive.
Beyond Text: A Multimodal Search Experience
AI Mode goes beyond typing. It now supports searches through voice, photos, and uploaded images. With Google Lens built in, users can take a picture and ask about it instantly. Imagine a shopper in Karachi snapping a photo of local spices and asking how they’re used in Pakistani cooking the feature will provide instant answers along with reliable sources.
How It Works
At the core of this feature is a process known as query fan-out, which breaks down a user’s question into multiple smaller topics and scans different sources at the same time. This allows Google to deliver more accurate, well-rounded answers. The results are further backed by Google’s Knowledge Graph, shopping insights, and ranking systems. If the system is unsure about a response, it falls back on traditional search results to ensure reliability.
Availability in Pakistan
The new AI Mode is now live in Pakistan in English and can be accessed through the Google app on both Android and iOS, as well as via desktop and mobile browsers.
By blending conversational search with its vast information ecosystem, Google aims to transform how people interact with the internet making it easier to plan, learn, shop, and make decisions with greater confidence.
