KARACHI: A wave of shock and grief has swept through Khokhrapar Malir Extension Colony after the horrific discovery of 16-year-old Areeba’s body, found strangled in a street. The grim find, coupled with a post-mortem confirming sexual assault, has ignited a desperate search for justice.
Police immediately launched a murder investigation under Section 302 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) following a complaint from the victim’s heartbroken father. Initial suspicions quickly focused on residents of the area.
“Based on the father’s suspicions, we’ve taken three men into custody,” stated SHO Khokhrapar, Allah Bachayo Rind. Among those arrested are Muhammad Anas, Asad, and another individual, including two brothers who live in the same neighborhood as the victim.
Sources indicate that Areeba was on her way home from her uncle’s house, carrying a dish of khichdi, when the unspeakable crime occurred. In a crucial development for investigators, one of Areeba’s sandals was reportedly recovered from the suspects’ house, and the khichdi she was carrying was found in a plastic bag on their rooftop.
While these arrests mark a significant step, the investigation is far from over. Authorities are now awaiting the crucial final forensic report, which is expected to provide conclusive evidence in this devastating case.
