Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has given the go-ahead to build a modern, world-class digital system within the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).
While chairing a meeting in Islamabad today to assess the progress of FBR reforms, he instructed authorities to bring in internationally recognized experts to help with the process.
He ordered that all data—from the production and import of raw materials, to the manufacturing of goods, to final consumer purchases—must be connected in one integrated digital system.
The Prime Minister stressed the need for the system to be strong and efficient enough to digitally monitor the entire value chain in real time.
He also said the centralized data collected through this platform should be used for making strategic economic decisions.
According to him, expanding the tax base and ending the informal economy is the only way to ease the tax burden on ordinary citizens.
