Humaira Asghar Likely Died of Food Poisoning Six Months Ago, Police Say

KARACHI — The tragic death of television personality and model Humaira Asghar Ali may have occurred more than six months ago, with police officials citing suspected food poisoning as the likely cause.

The 32-year-old former Tamasha Ghar contestant and supporting actor in the 2015 film Jalaibee was found dead on July 8, 2025, inside her apartment in DHA Phase VI, Karachi. The discovery has stunned the entertainment community, raising troubling questions about how her death went unnoticed for so long.

According to a preliminary medical examination conducted by a Medico-Legal Officer (MLO), the body was found in an advanced state of decomposition, suggesting she died several months earlier — possibly in late 2024. The MLO report indicated severe decay, particularly in the joints, including knee disintegration — a sign of prolonged decomposition.

“There were no signs of recent injuries or blood loss, and the condition of the remains suggests she passed away at least six months ago,” a police official said, requesting anonymity. The same official mentioned food poisoning as a possible cause of death, though toxicology results are still pending to confirm this.

Investigators also discovered details pointing toward long-term isolation. Records show that Humaira’s rent was last paid in May 2024, and K-Electric had disconnected the power to the apartment in October 2024 due to non-payment.

Adding to the grim timeline, food found inside her refrigerator had expired around the same month, reinforcing the theory that her death occurred in October or early November last year.

Humaira, who lived alone, had reportedly cut off contact with many in her circle months prior. Neighbors told police they had grown accustomed to her absence, assuming she had moved out.

While investigators continue to piece together the exact chain of events, the case highlights the tragic realities of urban isolation, even for those in the public eye. Law enforcement officials say further details will be shared once forensic and toxicology reports are completed.

Meanwhile, members of the entertainment industry and her small but loyal fanbase have taken to social media to express shock and grief over the circumstances of her death — and the silence that surrounded it for so long.
