Commissioner Hyderabad Pledges Sports Revival as Karachi Clinches SSWMB Girls Basketball Title

HYDERABAD — Commissioner Hyderabad Fayyaz Hussain Abbasi has vowed to rejuvenate sports activities in the city, announcing the renovation of the Latifabad Basketball Court at Board Stadium and promising better facilities at sports venues across Hyderabad.

He made the announcement while speaking at the prize distribution ceremony of the SSWMB Trophy Triangular Girls Basketball Series, where Karachi triumphed over Hyderabad with a convincing 32–16 victory in the final match. The event, organized under the banner of the Sindh Basketball Association (SBBA), was presided over by Dr. Altaf Ali Sial, Vice Chancellor of Sindh Agriculture University (SAU), Tandojam.

Addressing a lively gathering of young players, coaches, and basketball fans, Commissioner Abbasi praised the enthusiasm of the participants and reaffirmed his support for youth development through sports.
“As long as I hold this office, I’ll continue to work for the revival of sports alongside civic development projects,” he said. “Our goal is to ensure that Hyderabad’s youth have access to modern, well-maintained sports facilities whether in major or community-level arenas.”

Abbasi emphasized that promoting physical activities and team sports is essential for building a healthy, confident, and productive generation. His announcement was met with applause from the audience, reflecting a growing optimism about Hyderabad’s sporting future.
