Can Pakistan Avoid a Whitewash Against Dominant Bangladesh? The Big Question: Will Bangladesh Complete a 3-0 Sweep?

Bangladesh brushed off Pakistan’s concerns about pitch conditions on Tuesday, proving that playing at home still gives them the edge. Interestingly, just six weeks ago in Pakistan, the hosts had prepared pitches tailored to their own strengths — but those didn’t do them much good either.

Thanks to an outstanding bowling display, Bangladesh sealed the T20I series 2-0 with one game to spare. Pakistan avoided a complete collapse only due to Faheem Ashraf’s late counterattack, which added some respectability but couldn’t prevent defeat.

This win came just a day after a tragic plane crash hit a school, leaving Dhaka’s emotional crowd looking for something positive — and they got it. Despite losing early wickets to Pakistan’s bowlers, Jaker Ali and Mahedi Hasan steadied the innings and kept Bangladesh in the hunt. The Bangladeshi pacers then delivered a stunning powerplay performance, grabbing five wickets and lighting up the stadium.

Bangladesh’s consistency throughout the series has been impressive. In the first game, they chased down a small target with calm execution. In the second, they defended a modest total under pressure, even without two key players — Tanzid Hasan and Taskin Ahmed — whom they chose to rest. At nearly every phase of each match, Bangladesh stayed a step ahead of Pakistan.

Just weeks ago, after winning the home series, Pakistan’s captain Salman Agha said intent mattered more than the outcome. But that intent was missing on Tuesday. After early wickets fell, the chase lacked energy. The run rate spiraled out of reach, and even a final 78 runs in the last 45 balls wasn’t enough. Salman himself took 23 balls to score just nine runs — a frustrating effort in a T20 match.

Still, there’s a silver lining for Pakistan: they have several T20Is lined up this year. If they want to implement the changes they’ve been talking about, they’ll have plenty of chances. The final game against Bangladesh might offer the first signs of whether they’re serious about improvement.
