Rawalpindi — Responding to growing passenger complaints over inadequate travel facilities, erratic schedules, and poor amenities on the Rawalpindi-Lahore rail route, Pakistan Railways has announced plans to introduce four newly furnished coaches equipped with modern facilities starting October.
The decision follows detailed reports highlighting passenger grievances. According to firsthand accounts, travelers on the 7am Rawalpindi-Lahore AC Parlour coach and the 6pm Lahore-Rawalpindi service on August 15 experienced a range of issues, including ineffective air-conditioning, uncomfortable seating, poorly maintained washrooms, damaged flooring, substandard meals, and repeated delays.
Railway officials confirmed that the four upgraded coaches are currently being prepared and will be added to the daily Rawalpindi-Lahore and return services. The move aims to enhance passenger comfort, improve service reliability, and ensure strict adherence to schedules.
A spokesperson for Pakistan Railways emphasized that these newly furnished coaches will provide travelers with a level of service befitting their ticket fares, marking a significant step toward improving the overall passenger experience on one of the country’s busiest inter-city routes.
