ISLAMABAD – July 26, 2025:
Pakistan has strongly denounced Israel’s latest move to assert sovereignty over the occupied West Bank, calling it a blatant violation of international law and an alarming escalation in the ongoing oppression of the Palestinian people.
In a statement released on Friday, Foreign Office spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan condemned the Israeli Knesset’s unilateral legislation as a “grave and provocative step” that undermines peace efforts and entrenches the illegal occupation.
“These actions reflect Israel’s persistent disregard for Palestinian rights, UN Security Council resolutions, and established international norms,” Khan said. “Such deliberate provocations threaten regional stability and severely damage the prospects for a just and lasting peace.”
He urged the international community to act swiftly and decisively to hold Israel accountable for violating international humanitarian law, warning that such measures must not go unchecked.
“Let it be clear: no unilateral act can alter the internationally recognized status of the Occupied Palestinian Territories,” he added.
Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Senate passed a unanimous resolution condemning Israel’s actions. The resolution was tabled by Senator Palwasha Mohammad Zai Khan on behalf of the entire house.
The resolution reaffirmed that the West Bank remains internationally recognized as occupied land and that any Israeli claims of sovereignty over it constitute a direct affront to the legitimate and long-standing rights of the Palestinian people.
Lawmakers across party lines stood united in voicing unwavering support for the Palestinian cause. The resolution reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state, based on pre-1967 borders, in accordance with relevant UN resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.
“Pakistan will always stand with the Palestinian people in their struggle for freedom, dignity, and justice,” Senator Palwasha stated on the Senate floor.
The development comes amid growing international criticism of Israel’s increasingly aggressive policies in the occupied territories. Rights groups have also raised concerns over the broader implications of unilateral annexation, warning of further displacement, violence, and erosion of hopes for a two-state solution.
