China Praises Pakistan’s Diplomatic Efforts for Regional Peace

ISLAMABAD: China has applauded Pakistan’s active diplomatic role in seeking peaceful solutions to regional tensions, particularly at global platforms such as the United Nations Security Council.

During a meeting with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad on Tuesday, Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong praised Pakistan’s consistent efforts to promote dialogue and diplomacy amid evolving regional challenges — including the ongoing Iran-Israel conflict.

The two leaders discussed key regional developments and reaffirmed the strength of the Pakistan-China “All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership.” Prime Minister Shehbaz extended warm regards to President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang, and conveyed best wishes for the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit.

He acknowledged the ongoing consultations regarding his expected visit to China to attend the Summit later this August, calling it an important step in furthering bilateral ties.

Reiterating Pakistan’s commitment to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), the prime minister emphasized the timely completion of flagship projects like the Main Line-1 (ML-I) railway upgrade, the realignment of the Karakoram Highway (KKH), and the full operationalization of Gwadar Port. He also pointed to expanding cooperation in agriculture, industry, and the IT sector.

Prime Minister Shehbaz expressed gratitude for China’s steadfast economic and financial support, which, he said, played a crucial role in stabilizing Pakistan’s economy and improving the overall macroeconomic outlook — a key element of the government’s development agenda.

Ambassador Jiang assured the prime minister that preparations for his upcoming visit to China were already underway and that both sides were working closely to ensure its success.
